Every year in Yolo county the sunflowers grace the open land turning everything into a bliss of yellow. The more orange sunflowers there in the center are the masculine flowers mixed with the feminine…perfect balance for growth. I ask often around this time of year…”are the sunflowers ready yet?” When they peak, my beloved and I take a walk and enjoy the sunset. Last year we did that at summer solstice the day before I flew to Africa. Planting was a bit late this year due to all the rain, but should be shining bright in a few weeks.
